WARWICK GREEN GRINDERS CURRENTLY CANNOT ACCEPT ANY FALL LEAVES OR ANY WALNUT PRODUCTS

   In August the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture put a quarantine order in effect for Bucks County. This order stopped the movement of all walnut material out of Bucks County. This order was instated shortly after the confirmation of both the walnut twig beetle and fungus in a tree in Bucks County. Thousand Cankers Disease is  caused when Walnut Twig Beetles, which carry a fungus (Geosmithia morbida), tunnel between the bark of walnut trees, causing small cankers to form. Over time, repeated beetle attacks resulting cankers cause disruption of the movement of water and nutrients throughout the tree, which leads to dieback of branches and kills the tree, usually within 10 years. There is no known cure for Thousand Cankers Disease.

   However on September 15, 2011, the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture certified that our mulch has been approved for movement out of the quarantine area. In getting our mulch approved for distribution in and out Bucks County we have to follow stricter policy when accepting materials. Therefore, in acquiring the compliance certificate we can NO longer accept any walnut material and/or fall leaves. We would like to thank you in advance for adhering to our new regulation.
